Sacred Integration

A brief check-in (and some personal recommendations)

Dear beautiful reader,

They say before you quantum leap into your highest timeline, the physical body must also recalibrate, integrating the new frequency or energetic state you're embodying. This month, I was dead set on releasing the last part of my Entering the World Stage story, and in fact, in the first half of the month, was writing vigorously away with a whopping 14+ pages until— I hit a wall. Energetically. Mentally. Emotionally. Physically.

Instead of “pushing” myself (aka abandoning myself), I listened to my intuition and the signs that my wise vessel was communicating to me: Rest. So I quietly put away my laptop and notebook. I am not a sleepy person in the slightest, so it was shocking when I found myself needing to nap every day. No matter how much sleep I got, it seemed I needed more.

In spirituality and manifestation, it is thought that as you align with higher frequencies, your nervous system, cells, and even your DNA need to recalibrate. Common symptoms during this period may include: fatigue, emotional purging, physical aches, disorientation, vivid dreams, or needing solitude.

I’d been experiencing all of the above and therefore took the month off. (Earlier this morning, I even treated myself to a delectable massage.) I’m seeing this time as a sacred integration. I was planning on returning next month with the last part, but you know what? I think… I might just save the juicy ending for the actual… book! Gotta leave some new un-read content for the book, after all. Hehe.

Anyways, I promise I’ll be back next month. Until then, here are some things that have been inspiring me:

General Muse
Lenny Kravitz

Why:

Due to my curiosity and constant need for inspiration, I’m always going down some rabbit role on some public figure. Most recently, I’ve been in a reading rockstars memoirs phase (I just finished RHCP Anthony Kiedis’… wasn’t my fave even as a RHCP fan, solely for the fact that it was way too much sleazy sex with underage, young girls but very harrowing life journey for sure. Next up is Kim Gordon’s memoir!).

I am almost done with Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz, and therefore, have been listening to his music, watching his music videos and every interview I can find on him. Besides being shredded at 61 years old and looking amazing in leather pants, Kravitz has a real spiritual connection with the unseen that I greatly admire and resonate with. His memoir isn’t the best writing-wise (ghost written), but his life story is a total artists’ dreamscape. Plus, he is just so cool.

Movie
Didi by Sean Wang

Why you should watch:

A few weeks ago, I started my next painting which is an homage to the early aughts of skateboard and emo/pop-punk culture I was raised in and loved. Then I randomly came across this movie: I saw an Asian boy and clicked, never having heard anything about it or even watched the trailer. To my surprise, it was a coming-of-age comedy drama about an Asian American boy who grew up in the early 2000s.

The movie encapsulates the inner (and outer) turmoil of growing up Asian in a white-ish suburbia and the unique nostalgia of that brief time period of coming home to AIM all day with your best friend and watch skate videos on your desktop. I related to some, not all, of the pain points, but thought it was incredibly well-done. This movie definitely is part of the same universe as my current painting!

Drink
Strawberry Matcha Cream Top by DAMO

Why you should drink:

I actually met a newsletter subscriber at Stagger, the last matcha place I recommended, and she said she came because of my newsletter recommendation! How cool is that? SO here I am with another delicious matcha rec. DAMO teahouse in Koreatown is another top contender. My favorite is their strawberry matcha latte with a regular cream top (it can come in strawberry cream too), half-sweetened! I dream of this drink.

Dog Food
A Pup Above

Why you should buy:

It’s no secret that Komey is my soulmate dog. Actually, my 17-year-old mentee, who is extremely wise beyond her years, once remarked in my kitchen: “Komey is a witch’s familiar.” And I was like: YES! I feel seen. Totally.

Anyway, Komey is a picky eater. And I do not feed her any human food. On kibble, she’d protest and starve for days. On the Farmer’s Dog, she’d eat. Then after five years of being on that, she started to protest again. Sighs. Since then, I’ve been on a quest to find her the yummiest, best dog food. I refuse to make her a home-cooked meal, even though I’m like only two steps away from that. I first switched her to JustFoodForDogs and bought a variety pack and as a crazy dog mom, literally wrote down daily notes of which food she enjoyed and didn’t.

But in my heart, I felt it wasn’t what she LOVED. I then came across A Pup Above from a friend, who is also a crazy dog mom like me. And now?! Komey begs and whimpers and scratches the fridge to eat! Unbelievable. Of course, this also happens to be one of the most expensive dog foods out there. Sighs. But she’s lucky her mom has disposable income. If you’re Crazy Dog Mom like me, you need to try.

Please write me any of your recommendations. I’m dying to hear from you!
Mucho luv & hugs,
Amy
